beSEEN puts power in the hands of residents and small business owners by allowing them the opportunity to protect their families, homes, and businesses, from property-related, and even, violent crimes.
beSEEN will accomplish this by providing Ring security devices and professional installation services to York City residents and business owners who’s addresses are selected. All cameras and installations will be funded by donations. The recipients will receive this service at no cost to them. Those who receive a device must sign our Community Safety Pledge and commit to upholding a high level of vigilance.
The use of the Neighbors app by Ring adds additional abilities to anonymously share information, or camera footage, and interact with neighbors.
Addresses will be determined by overall participation (registration) and will be placed in areas where the greatest coverage is available.
The goal is to equip entire communities with the ability to peacefully protect, and engage with, their neighborhoods. Blocks will be selected based on potential impact, including providing support to black-owned and minority-owned businesses located within the selected zones. The creation of safe walking routes to City schools will also be prioritized.
